For the third consecutive year, Dubai has clinched the top spot in Tripadvisor’s global destination rankings, solidifying its position as the foremost city to achieve this recognition. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, made this announcement on his official X account.
Sheikh Hamdan attributed Dubai’s remarkable success in the tourism sector, once deemed an unattainable dream decades ago, to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Emphasizing the tangible reality of Dubai’s tourism accomplishments, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the ambitious goals set by Sheikh Mohammed within the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, just a year ago. These goals aimed at positioning Dubai among the Top 3 global economic cities and tourist destinations.
The winners of the 2024 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards were determined by evaluating the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings in various subcategories, encompassing accommodations, restaurants, and activities globally. The assessment covered a 12-month period from October 2022 to September 2023, relying on traveler reviews and ratings on Tripadvisor.
In the global rankings, Bali secured the second position, followed by London, which maintained its status as Europe’s leading destination and claimed the third spot globally. The Top 5 included Hanoi in fourth place and Rome in fifth place. Despite a slight decline, New York remained the highest-ranking American destination, shifting from 23rd to 25th place. Paris, Cancun, Marrakech, Crete, and Hoi An in Vietnam rounded off the Top 10.
